Back to School

Welcome back to school!

We are excited to be back in the classroom. Our teachers and directors worked very hard to kick off the school year with creativity and big smiles.

Six weeks into our school year, everyone has settled in and started working hard. Our students are having a great time playing and they are learning the entire time!

From puzzles to block building to exploring a non-Newtonian fluid the fun never stops! Even playing on our bike track can turn into an impromptu art installation. These students turned tumbled tykes into sculpture!

This month, September, we are collecting gently-used coats for the Children's Home Society. As we pray for cooler days, please take the time to go through your coat closets and find those light and heavy-weight jackets/coats that no longer fit you or your children. That's right, we are looking for both adult and children's sizes. Look for the collection baskets in front of the classrooms to place your coats.

UPCOMING

In October we will collect gently-used blankets.  We are also looking forward to a visit from the fire department! They will visit our classrooms to go over fire safety, and we hope to see their fire truck up close!

We will also begin to send home information about our November 2nd Fall Festival! This event is a fun day for parents and grandparents to interact with our students on the playground. We set  up lots of parent-directed games and activities for everyone to enjoy. The children collect prizes as they play. We also will have a cupcake walk and silent auction to raise money for the school. Be on the lookout for information on how you can help with our silent auction by donating items, gift cards, or your special skills!

We will have a family meet-and-greet event in the near future. This laid back evening-event offers all the St. Michael's families the chance to visit and enjoy tasty treats. Get to know the children and parents in your child's classroom and the other classroom's as well.

Teachers, directors, parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles will gather one Saturday in the future to help spruce of the school during our Family Workday.  Steam cleaning the classroom carpets, repairing fixtures/structures, pruning back bushes, and pulling weeds/vines are just some of the tasks that we hope to accomplish.  This adults-only volunteer day allows our staff and families to come together to make St. Michael's shine. It is also a tremendous opportunity to get to know everyone better. There is nothing like sweating through the day to create great bonds and a big sense of pride in our little school!

Thank you for checking in on our blog. Please let us know what you think!
